As a historian, I work on the modern Eastern Mediterranean. I finished my Ph.D. at the University of Basel in 2024. I also hold a master’s degree in Human Rights Law and Justice and a diploma in Middle East Studies from the American University in Cairo. From 2020 to 2024, I was a member of the academic staff at the Leibniz Institute of European History in Mainz, Germany, as part of the Leibniz Collaborative Excellence project “The Historicity of Democracy in the Muslim and Arab Worlds.”
I edit texts in the social sciences and humanities. My most recent projects include books for Amsterdam University Press and the American University in Cairo Press and articles or entire special issues for the Journal of Palestine Studies, the Journal of East Central European Studies, and the Journal of Eastern African Studies.
